McClain and Hirai are the 2013 Champions
The overnight leader got off to a quick start with a birdie on the par five second to get to a three shot lead. Zach McClain then maintained that lead through the turn with another birdie on the front nine. Things tightened up on the backside as Jamie Wilson got within two shots by the 15th hole. Wilson closed the gap to 1 shot by 18 , but just simply ran out of holes and McClain claimed his first SCJGA Title.
Jacquelyn Twitty also had a birdie on her front nine to extend her lead in the girls bracket only to have a couple of hiccups on the back nine. Several bogeys and strong play from Reona Hirai tied the Chapin native after fifteen holes. Hirai ended up posting 73 to win by one over Twitty and Riley Lovorn.
Graham Corbin (Inman) took care of business in the boys 10-12 bracket by shooting a little 32 on today’s round. He finished the day with five birdies on the par 37 course. The little girls division, playing the same course, has Carly Lyvers as champion. The Greenville native was the only player in the girls 11-13 bracket to break 80 over the back nine of Thornblade Club.
