B.K. Bryan Jr-Am

The Blade Junior Golf Classic started a a new tradition in 2002.  The “Corporate Challenge Junior-Am,” now known as the B.K. Bryan Junior-Am, was held on the Monday before the Classic.  This event was created to give our Corporate Sponsors an opportunity to play with one of South Carolina’s top ranked male or female junior golfers at a premiere golf course, Thornblade Club.  The sponsors and junior golfers enjoy eighteen holes of golf followed by a superb golf clinic given by PGA Tour Professional Jay Haas and a family style dinner.

The Corporate Challenge Junior-Am and The Blade Junior Golf Classic have been huge successes in the past and we are very excited about the growth of our tradition.  Since 1999, The Blade has donated about $500,000 to the South Carolina Junior Golf Association, Pediatric Cancer Research at the Greenville Hospital System Children’s Hospital, and Camp Courage.

Following in the successful footsteps of the last five years, 2007 marked a significant year as The Blade Junior Golf Classic had its first annual B.K. Bryan Junior-Am.  The namesake of both the Greenville Hospital System Bryan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Bryan New Hope Fund for Cancer Research, B.K. was a devoted, long-time friend to the Greenville community.  His passion for the game of golf, wisdom and humor were known as much as his love for children and belief in the need for excellent expanded pediatric care.  His leadership in the community in which he lived for more than 61 years will be remembered through this continuing event.
