The Blade was conceived after at visit to the Players Championship in Hartsville. It was only Austin Reeves second junior golf tournament. His dad and Thornblade Club member, Rob saw the opportunity, the need and he proclaimed, “We gotta do this!”
A little more than a decade later, The Blade has become the SCJGA’s premiere junior event. Reeves, joined by more than 500 volunteers, have created something special. To date some 1750 kids have played The Blade and the tournament results read like a whose who in junior golf; 120 of them going on to complete at the college level. Players like Bill and Jay Haas, Brian and Ben Duncan, Brent Delahoussaye, Kevin Kissner, Ben Martin and on.
