The Blade is thrilled to partner with Greenville Hospital System’s Children’s Hospital and Greenville County Recreation District to be a partner with the construction of the new Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center. This exciting partnership will allow us to continue our legacy of “Kids Helping Kids.”

The Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center will be the new home for Camp Courage, a Children’s Hospital-led camp for children with cancer and blood disorders. Previously Camp Courage had been located at Camp Grayston in Tuxedo, North Carolina and was founded in 1994. This new facility, with the help of the private and public sectors, creates a one of a kind facility that not only serves the needs of these special campers with a state of the art facility, but makes better use of community resources and avoids duplicating highly specialized facilities. This facility will also be the home of Camp Spearhead, a recreation district camp that serves children and adults with special needs.

The Blade Board of Directors, Jay Haas, and the family of B.K. Bryan feel very strongly that this joint effort to provide this favility for the children provides a great opportunity for kids who have been blessed with good health to give back through volunteering time during weekends and summer. This opportunity also allows The Blade to be more viable in its charitable mission of giving back to the community and helping the sick kids throughout the state of South Carolina. We are excited about this new partnership and have pledged a gift of $500,000 to make this new Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center a very special place. Please join our efforts in supporting this project.
