Justin Thompson continued his brilliant play in the final round of the 7th Annual Blade Junior Golf Classic. Thompson fired a final round 71 to give him a two-day total of 138 and a four shot victory over Columbia native Brewer Bradshaw. Taylor Barrett successfully defended her title in the girls 14-18 division. Barrett fired a final round 73 giving her a slim two shot edge over her nearest competitor Rachel Uremovich. Hayden Letien fired a final round 71 to come from behind and claim top honors in the boys 13-14 division.
The final nine holes of play was canceled due to torrential downpours and severe thunderstorms. The first round determined the awards for the players. The girls 11-13 has Dannielle Dunnagan as champion. Caleb Sturgeon captured the scorecard playoff over Jackson Moore and Will Murphy in the boys 10-12 action. McKenzie Talbert and Adam Garrett took their respective divisions in the youngest brackets.
The Corporate Challenge Junior-Am took place on Monday with an All Star exhibition conducted by Jay Haas and Lucas Glover upon completion of the event. Thanks to the wonderful sponsors, a check for $15,000 was presented to the Children’s Hospital of the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center.
